Giving the gift of time is an integral part to the success of the Museum’s exhibitions, events, programming, and operations. All that’s needed is a pleasant and professional presence and excellent communication and customer service skills. There is something to fit everyone’s interests and talents. Below is an overview of activities where volunteers can help as well as a list of currently open opportunities.

Special Exhibitions

During these special exhibitions, volunteers help with a variety of duties, including being in the galleries, assisting visitors, organizing school groups, answering questions, giving directions and taking tickets.

The Museum hosts a number of events throughout the year, such as exhibition previews, member receptions, and fundraisers. Volunteers help at these one-time events with assisting attendees, helping during live/silent auctions, or performing a variety of other duties.

Education/Program Volunteer

Part of the Museum’s goal is to educate the community about the visual arts through art activities, lectures and movies. Volunteers help during these monthly programs by facilitating art activities, assisting visitors and distributing information.

Office Volunteer

Phoenix Art Museum is a private non-profit organization with a number of departments to facilitate the operations of the Museum. Volunteers help with special projects or day-to-day functions, such as data-entry, phone calls, and mailings. Volunteering in the offices is a unique opportunity to learn the “behind-the-scenes” functions of the Museum.

Art Research Library Offices

With more than 40,000 books, periodicals, artist files and more, the Library serves as an important resource for the community and state as the largest specialized fine arts library in the region. Volunteers assist with light clerical duties such as answering phones, mailings, data entry, filing, etc. as well as special projects.
