Members' Make It!: Sweet Compositions

Calling young artists (ages 5-12) and their caregivers! Investigate an atypical art-making material. Gather inspiration from artist Vik Muniz’s photograph in the Past/Future/Present: Contemporary Brazilian Art from the Museum of Modern Art, São Paulo exhibition.  Consider shape, form, and space as you create your own “sweet” work of art. Circles of Support members are invited to join Dennita Sewell, The Jacquie Dorrance Curator of Fashion Design, for an exclusive Circles curator-led tour of A Tribute to James Galanos.   A retrospective dedicated to the iconic American fashion designer, A Tribute to James Galanos features more than 40 couture-quality, ready-to-wear ensembles and accessories, including an ensemble worn and donated by former First Lady Nancy Reagan, the exhibition will illuminate the designer’s influence and legacy with objects from the 1950s through the 1990s.   “A black dress,” Galanos once said, “reveals everything: line, cut, drape, seaming. Senior Coffee Social

Join us for our bimonthly Coffee Social for Members 65 and over. Enjoy complimentary coffee, breakfast treats and a presentation about November’s Object of the Month: Eleven-headed Avalokiteshvara. The Buddhist religious art of Tibet and Mongolia, exotic and esoteric, has firm roots in the ancient arts of Asia.  Explore Avalokitesvara, eleven-headed patron deity of Tibet and other beloved deities of the region with docent Carrie Mikkelborg.    This event will take place in Singer Hall in Wolfswinkel Education Center.
