The Art of Writing
October 6, 6:30pm
Celebrate The Big Read at the Museum with Desert Sleuths Sisters in Crime!

Ideas for short stories are everywhere. Perhaps the important thing, then, is not in knowing where to look for an idea, but how to look. Join us in the Lemon Art Research Library for this discussion, book-signing and workshop using the Museum's collections for inspiration!

Contributors to the anthology How NOT to Survive the Holidays discuss the art of crafting a short story. The anthology features 18 short mystery stories by local authors and members of Sisters in Crime, ranging from the humorous to the noir. Authors appearing include: Susan Budavari, Howard Carron, Suzanne Flaig, Lori Hines, Deborah J. Ledford, Merle McCann, Chantelle Aimée Osman, R. K. Olson, Nancy Redd, Judy Starbuck and JoAnne Zeterberg.

The Big Read is presented locally by the West Valley Arts Council in partnership with the Maricopa County Library District. The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest.
