Have an itch your writer's pen can't scratch? Come down to Cézanne and American Modernism for some visual motivation! Practice writing and performing original poetry in a truly inspiring environment, or come ready to recite your favorite poet's work as we team up with Poetry Out Loud to prepare you for the 2010 State Recitation Contest.
If you'd like to plan ahead, visit Cézanne and American Modernism for visual inspiration. Or, wait for September 8 to spend time in the exhibition and receive help from staff and visiting poet Myrlin Hepworth! Please follow the parameters below to follow our theme of influence: If you're interested in reciting poetry... -Select poetry from Poetry Out Loud's anthology -Select poetry influenced by other poets and/or other poetry -Select poetry that has influenced your own motivation for recitation or writing your own original poems If you're interested in writing your own poetry... -Write poems influenced by Cézanne and American Modernism -Write poems influenced by a friend's recited or original poetry at the event, or from prior performances or readings For more information about Poetry Out Loud, click here. |
