Scientific studies show the art of Mindfulness can relieve anxiety, depression, pain, and stress and actually change the way you feel, think, work and play by opening new pathways in the brain. Learn how to focus on the present and live in the moment. Join us as we use art and guided meditation to connect to the moment and create a deeper understanding of artworks once per month. Take a little extra time to look, listen and relax your mind with our teams of museum educators and mindfulness guides. Presented in partnership with Hospice of the Valley, each session focuses on one work of art in the Museum, blending guided mindfulness practice with a deeper reflection of an individual artwork. Object of the Month: Tsong-Kah-Pa

Explore Tsong-Kha-Pa, spiritual ancestor of the Dalai Lamas and incarnation of a celestial being. With his sword of wisdom poised to strike through clouds of ignorance, Tsong-Kha-Pa is part of Phoenix Art Museum’s collection of gilt bronze sculptures of lamas and deities both fierce and mild. Connect with him and with Tibetan Buddhist practice and devotion in a conversation with docent Carrie Mikkelborg.
