Make It!: Seeing Sculpture

Join Phoenix-based artist Giovana Aviles to explore layering and repetition of unconventional design materials. Gather inspiration from Iris van Herpen's sculptural garments in Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion as you contribute to a community piece and/or create your own accessory to take home.
Teaching Artist Bio
Giovana Aviles is a Mexican-born artist based in Arizona. She creates garments out of paper, rubber and plastic. The fusion of fashion, design and art are important components in Giovana’s work as she seeks to tell stories of empowerment and community.
About Make It!
Make It! is a monthly drop-in, family-friendly, hands on art-making activity for all. Each month features a different activity inspired by objects in the Museum’s collection or current exhibitions and collaborations with different local artists to create activities that introduce participants to new materials, perspectives and ways of connecting.
Make It! is free and part of #PhxArtFamily and #FreeAfterThree Wednesdays (each Wednesday, general admission is free from 3 - 9 pm).
