A Japanese Version of the Czar of Russia

Collector James Melikian discusses a 19th-century Japanese manuscript relating the true adventures of a Japanese shipwrecked crew saved by a Russian ship in 1793 and taken to Russia before being returned to Japan.

A Painting of the Russian Czar, from a 16-volume Japanese manuscript dated Bunka 4 (1807). There are a total of 842 pages with 110 illustrations. Each volume measures 6 1/2 X 9 1/4 inches.
