The Art of Fashion

Explore the art of garment making with atypical materials. Check out Eye on Fashion: The Kelly Ellman Collection for inspiration and create your own weaving project with artist Giovana Aviles!
Giovana Aviles is a Mexican born artist based in Arizona. She creates garments out of paper, rubber and plastic.  The fusion of fashion, design and art are important components in Giovana’s work as she seeks to tell stories of empowerment and community.

Make It! is a monthly drop-in, family-friendly, hands on art-making activity for all. Each month features a different activity inspired by objects in the Museum’s collection or current exhibitions. Each month also features collaborations with different local artists to create activities that introduce participants to new materials, perspectives and ways of connecting. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Make It! is free, no registration required, and is part of #PhxArtFamily and #FreeAfterThree (each Wednesday, general admission is free from 3pm-9pm).
