Circles of Support Members are invited to a reception and presentation by American artist Mary Lucier. She will discuss The Plains of Sweet Regret and the changing face of the northern plains.
Mary Lucier is celebrated for her multi-monitor, multi-channel video installations. Since 1971, she has explored the theme of landscape as a potent metaphor for loss and regeneration. Her work has been shown in major museums around the world and is represented in numerous important collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Reina Sofia, the Stedeljik Museum, and SFMOMA. The Plains of Sweet Regret will be on display at Phoenix Art Museum in spring 2018, and reflects a personal journey into the heart of North Dakota, an area that has witnessed the greatest outward migration since the Great Depression.
