
Tours
Tours are aligned with Arizona Department of Education Standards in the visual arts and related curriculum areas where appropriate. Most tours are based on the Museum’s extensive collection. Educators may also schedule tours of temporary exhibitions; click here to view upcoming exhibition schedule.
Docent-guided tours are available Tuesday – Thursday beginning at 10am.
All tours require 5 weeks advance notice and are subject to the relevant admission charges.
- $4 per student
- 1 teacher and 2 chaperones per 30 students are free
- Additional adults (unless required by your situation) pay admission fee of $4
- Admission subsidies are available on a limited basis for schools with 50% or more Title I populations
- Bus subsidies are available dependent upon need and available funding
Docent Led Tours
Tours are led by volunteers (docents) trained to speak knowledgeably about objects in the Museum’s collection in ways appropriate for the age of those in your group. Classes will be divided into groups of 12-15. Required chaperone to student ratio is 1:10 for grades K-3, 1:15 for grades 4-12.

Tuesday tours may visit the following galleries only: Art of Asia, European Art, American Art, Spanish Colonial Art, Art of Philip C. Curtis, Steele Gallery.
NOTE: Gallery Closures
The following galleries will be closed for renovation until early December:
European, American, Western American, Spanish Colonial, Thorne Miniature Rooms, PhxArtKids, Asian.

Self-Guided Visits
Phoenix Art Museum welcomes educators to self-guide groups in ways that benefit their students while accommodating the presence of guided tours and the general public.

Featured Exhibition
Cezanne and American Modernism
July 1 – September 26
French master Paul Cézanne, one of the most recognizable names in art, is celebrated for his Post-Impressionist masterpieces. However, Cézanne’s greatest legacy may be the transformative effect his work had on 20th century artists. Share with your students this opportunity to learn about the nature of influence, inspiration, and learning by looking.
