Art Masterpiece Bootcamp Training

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN: Saturday, September 24, 2016, 9am-4pm at the Phoenix Art Museum

Art Masterpiece is a school-based program intended to introduce elementary students to the visual arts. Classroom volunteers augment school curriculum through classroom presentations about artwork from Phoenix Art Museum’s collection.

The museum offers annual training for these volunteers and other interested educators during our annual Art Masterpiece Bootcamp – a day-long opportunity to learn to guide children through the process of looking at and discussing art.  Bootcamp provides an overview of art history, resource ideas, modeling of classroom presentations and activities, and Museum orientation.

Spend the day with us and you'll come away ready to implement a successful Art Masterpiece program at your school. Discover techniques for engaging students in visual thinking and close looking at art.  Learn strategies to create meaningful hands-on activities. Meet other Art Masterpiece volunteers to exchange tips for confidently presenting art to students.

Who should attend Art Masterpiece Bootcamp?

  • ANYONE looking to share their passion for art with children - No background in art required
  • School-based volunteers
  • After-school teachers
  • Youth program leaders
  • PTO members
